about me

hi! my name is miles asher (he/him), and i'm an artist, writer, and amateur coder living in the united states.

right now, my favorite media is ace attorney, and my favorite character is klavier gavin! (though, i do very much enjoy apollo justice as well...). i also like the game dredge. i enjoy listening to 80s music, disco, and the band the flaming lips.

currently, i'm a college student, working to get a degree in anthropology and sociology, with a minor (or possibly a major) in religious studies.

right now, i'm an intern at a local history museum, doing research and assisting in creating exhibits for the 250th anniversary of the declaration of independence. i know a lot of obscure history stuff, and am always excited to do research, so if you want to talk to me about american history or religion, send me an ask on tumblr!

my art

Dune Family Portrait

A digital painting of three figures in front of a green background, with a blue curtain hanging on the left of the piece. One of the figures, a pale woman with curly purple hair and a large pink dress, is holding a baby in her lap. The baby is wearing a white dress and matching cap, with bits of purple hair peeking out from under it. The third figure, a tan man in a green coat and a large scar diagonally from right to left across his face, who has slitted pupils and white hair, is standing behind them. He has his left arm leaning against a brown mantle, with a white and blue vase on it. The vase has a pink flower inside.

this painting was made to be featured on my character blog, 'Ask Fechin', to be used in one of his posts. more broadly, 'Ask Fechin' is the social media of a seelie fae named fechin dune-affean, who is the ruler of a kingdom called the dappled forest, and he is one of the main characters of a story i'm writing with friends called 'For All Eternity,' or 'FAE' for short. in the painting, he's featured as a baby with his mother, the deposed queen chrysanthemum, and his father, prince consort rian, shortly after her coronation.

Dune-Affean Portrait

A digital painting of two figures, standing side by side in a garden, with green bushes and trees lined up symetrically in the background. The figure on the left has dark skin, dark green hair, and brown eyes, and is wearing a white shirt with a gold collar, and a short, green vest over it. He's also wearing green pants and knee-high brown boots. He's wearing a piece of white fabric that drapes over his nose and mouth. In his right hand is a glass orb, which the figure on the right has his hand over. The figure on the right is very pale, with lilac-colored hair and small antlers, and small green triangles tattooed under his eyes, with green lines that extend down to his jaw from the triangles. He has very pale blue eyes, and is staring directly at the viewer. He's wearing a gold collar that extends a bit down his chest. He is also wearing a green scarf, over a white wrapping that covers his chest, but exposes his stomach. He's wearing a blue sash that's tucked in the front of his blue skirt. He has no shoes, and anklets the same gold as his collar. In his right hand is a staff with a large bird skull on top. Both figures are wearing gold circlets, and have tattoos of suns between their eyebrows.

this is another digital painting i made for 'Ask Fechin,' as a way of celebrating his wedding anniversary with his husband, prince consort knox, an elf from the dappled forest's former enemy, the kingdom of naranthia. this portrait celebrates both their anniversary, as well as fechin's completion of his first year as king, which is why they're wearing their coronation clothing.

my research

i wrote this essay when i was in the international baccalaureate (ib) program in high school. i forgot to put in the word count before submitting it, and i no longer have a document version of this, only this pdf i had on my old website, but i do know that it's over 4,000 words! while it's not my best work, i am still super proud that i made it :-).

oops! the imbed isn't working right now. read the essay here.
